В 1920—39 — в Новогрудском воеводстве в составе Польши, в 1939—91 — в составе БССР.В 1847 в И. проживало 804 еврея, в 1897 — 573 (15,7%), в 1931 — 2076 евреев.В 1865 в И. имелось 2 синагоги. В 19 в. в И. была открыта иешива. С 1887 раввином в И. был Ш.-Я.Рабинович, в 1904—16 — Ицхок Косовский (1878—1951). В 1912 в И. было создано еврейское ссудо-сберегат. т-во. В 1920—30-х гг. действовали отд-ния разл. еврейских партий и орг-ций.2 авг. 1941 в И. было расстреляно 220 евреев. В февр. 1942 создано гетто. В мае 1942 в И. были сконцентрированы евреи Ивьевского и Юратиштского р-нов, из числа к-рых 12 мая 1942 2304 чел. было расстреляно, ок. 1400 заключено в гетто.
