that the Executive in these endeavours was free from all political bias. The Conference approved the discipline clause on the shekel voucher. In consideration of the wish to subordinate all party interests to the integral interests of the Zionist movement, the Conference adopted the following proposals for the reform of the constitution of the Zionist Organisation : (1) That the President of the Organisation should be elected by a Referendum for four years, and not as hitherto by the Congress; (2) That the Congress should elect the Executive for four years; (3) That the right to vote in the Congress elections shall be exercised only by those shekel-payers who pay the Shekel in non-Congress as well as in Congress years. Our organisation carried out the usual annual propaganda campaign in the month of Iyar, towards the end of the Shekel campaign, by means of visits of members of the Executive and of the Council to most local branches. Apart from these purely Zionist meetings larger meetings were also held on the occasion of the visits of delegates of the Keren Hayesod, viz : Dr. Immanuel Olswanger in 1934 and Dr. Moses Waldmann in 1935. The branch of the WIZO comprises 3,200 members in 44 societies, and is doing important work in all spheres of its activity. The Association of Youth Organisations comprises all groups with the exception of the Revisionists. It consists of 2,500 members in 58 societies, including 15 units of Hashomer Hazair and 3 units, of the Akiba. The General Zionist section of the Akiba began with the organising of its youth only this year. The Hechaluz includes all young people who are preparing for settlement in Palestine. There are at present about 100 members engaged in agricultural and industrial training. The Jewish Gymnastic and Sports Societies, which are all in close connection with the World Maccabi, are able to record progress during the past two years and took part in the second Maccabiah. In the year 5693 there were sold 7,500 Shekolim, and in the year 5694 over 7,600. The 5695 campaign is now in progress and should reach last year's total, as our Shekolim figures show a tendency to be about equal in non-Congress and in Congress years. The percentage of Shekel payers in proportion to the total Jewish population in the country amounts also to 11 per cent, compared with rather less than 5 per cent, in the Jewish world in general. The contributions to the Funds were as follows : in 5693, for the Keren Hayesod 650,000 dinar, and for the Keren Kayemeth,, 1,000,000 dinar; in 5694 for the Keren Hayesod 1,050,000 dinar, for the Keren Kayemeth 1,100,000 dinar. The Zionist press appears in the Serbo-Croatian laguage. In Zagreb, the official organ of the Organisation is Zidov; in Sarajevo there is an independent paper, Jevrejski Glas, and in Belgrade 244
