During the past year the Tarbuth Association continued its work in the field of Hebrew Education. It was found necessary to extend the number of Hebrew Classes and Clubs which amounted to twelve at the end of the year. The number of students in the classes is continuously increasing. GREECE. 1. The Executive Committee of the Zionist Federation of Greece consists of the following:—M. Bessantchi, President; Adolphe Arditti, Secretary; Isac Benrubi, Asst. Secretary; Sam Beja, Treasurer, and Isac Angel, R. Raphael, Isaac Amariglio, Salomon Bitti, Yomtov Yacoel, Salomon Mordoh and Albert Beraha. 2. The Zionist Federation of Greece comprises 26 societies, nine of which are in Salonica and seventeen in the rest of the country. The membership of the Societies has increased since the last Congress, thanks to the increased enthusiasm due to the immigration into Palestine. Besides the Federation there are also in Salonica the Mizrachi Organisation, the Association of Zionist Revisionists, the Zeire Mizrachi Union, and the Association of Radical Zionists " Arzenou." Practically all these Zionist organisations have slackened in their activity owing to the fact that more than 90 per cent, of their individual members have migrated to Palestine. The 10th Conference of Zionists was held on October 6th and 7th, 1934, and 47 delegates were present. The Zionist Executive and the Central Office of the Keren Hayesod were represented by Mr. M. Helfman. The principal questions discussed were those of immigration and the creation of a communal Zionist party. 3. The work of propaganda and organisation has considerably declined in consequence of the departure of many Zionist leaders. The only Zionist journals published in Greece are La Renassencia Djoudia (a weekly), published in Ladino and in Greek by the Federation, and Forii tou Israel, in Greek. 4. The Shekel campaigns in 5694 and 5695 were greatly delayed owing to the difficulty in releasing the Shekolim from the Customs authorities. Apart from the Federation and the Mizrachi, no other Zionist organisation took part in the campaign of 5694, which closed with a sale of 1,695 shekolim. The campaign of 5695, which began two years after that of 5694, is continuing at the time that this Report is written. The income of the Keren Kayemeth from April 1st, 1933, to March 31st, 1935, is 1,157,129 dinars against 608,559.55 dinars in the preceding two years. The income of the Keren Hayesod from April 1st, 1933 to March 31st, 1935, was 214,812 dinars, compared with 70,806 dinars from April 1st, 1931 to March 31st, 1933. The teaching of Hebrew as a living language has progressed with the immigration movement to Palestine. But the Hebrew 216
