In the period under review intensive propaganda work has been carried on. Members of the Executive Council have undertaken tours throughout the country, which were very valuable in stimulating and encouraging the women workers, and in assisting the Societies in their problems of organisation. Reports of the last Conference showed that the sum of £2,880 was raised for the J.N.F. in the past year, exclusive of any boxwork, and it is confidently expected that the total J.N.F. collections this year will greatly exceed this figure. Ziona, the Youth Movement of the F.W.Z., is making rapid progress and now has a membership of 400, in 21 groups. The members are showing great enthusiasm, not only in fund-raising, but also in their cultural work. The study of Hebrew is being encouraged and nearly every group has a Hebrew Class of its own, or else participates in a class arranged locally. The sale of Palestinian products takes an important place in the field of fund-raising, and is being extended in most of the Societies. Increased results are shown in the Palestine collections, the amountraised having grown from £167 in the second year of Ziona's existence, to £310 in the third year, while the present year will undoubtedly produce a further increase. Federation of Zionist Youth.—The most important aspect of Young Zionist development during the past two years has been the decision of the Association of Young Zionist Societies and the University Zionist Federation to amalgamate into a body to be known as the Federation of Zionist Youth. A Joint Cultural Committee has been in existence for some time, and has succeeded in publishing small pamphlets on the fundamentals of Zionist thought and policy. There has been an increase in the number of members in the Federation who are able to converse in Hebrew, and also in the number attending Hebrew classes in London. Tarbuth.—The activities of the Tarbuth Association in 1934 culminated in the " Hebrew Week," which took place from November 25th to December 3rd. The " Hebrew Week " was organised in conjunction with the Palestinian Students' Union and the " Brith Ivrith Olamit." Its objects were to emphasise to the community and to the outside world the significance of the revival of the Hebrew language as a cultural and spiritual force, and a medium of education and social intercourse. The arrangements for the "Hebrew Week" were directed by Mr. Leon Simon, C.B., Chairman; Dr. S. Rawidowicz, Hon. Director; W. N. Williams, Hon. Treasurer, and Mr. I. Shapira, M.A. and Mr. A. Tessel, Joint Hon. Secretaries. The Provinces organised similar activities in Birmingham, Dublin, Harrogate, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, etc. An important feature of the " Hebrew Week " was the special Hebrew supplement and articles which appeared both in the Jewish and non-Jewish Press. The functions of the Hebrew Week succeeded beyond anticipation. 215
