There has also been an increase in the number of contributors to Zionist funds. In 1932 there were 2,210 contributors to the United Palestine Appeal; in 1933 the number increased to 4,210, and in 1934 there were 6,126 contributors. The Campaign of 1935 not having been concluded when this report was written, the number of contributors is not given here. These figures do not include subscribers to the Hadassah Trust Funds and the Jewish National Fund. There was also a significant increase in the number of centres contributing to the United Palestine Appeal. In 1932 only 38 centres made their contributions to that Fund; in 1933 there were 63 contributing centres; and in 1934 the total increased to 100 centres. Since May, 1933, the funds raised through the United Palestine Appeal have been equally divided between the Keren Hayesod and the Keren Kayemeth under an arrangement agreed to by the two Funds. In 1933 Mr. Leib Jaffe of the Keren Hayesod visited Canada, organising the United Palestine Appeal in fifteen communities. In 1934 the outstanding achievement was the radio broadcast opening the Campaign on one day, April 15th, in all centres, with Prime Minister Richard B. Bennett, of Canada and Mr. A. J. Freiman, President of the Canadian Zionist Organisation, delivering the addresses. Mrs. A. J. Freiman, O.B.E., was Chairman of the Campaign. Dominion Hadassah continues to be the most active branch in Zionist work in Canada. In the Convention period from 1932 to 1935 Hadassah raised 42 per cent, of the entire Zionist income. The Hadassah members participate actively in the United Palestine Appeal and Jewish National Fund work, and at the same time take care of their specific Hadassah funds in Palestine, such as the funds for the Canadian Hadassah Agricultural School for Girls in Nahalal, the Motza Convalescent Home and the Baby Crèche in Jerusalem. Cultural work is part of the programme of the Hadassah chapters. At the present time there are 105 Senior chapters and 45 Junior Chapters in Canada. Their membership has increased from 2606 in 1932-33 to 3600 in 1934-35. The Dominion officers elected at the Hadassah Convention in Toronto on January 22nd are: President, Mrs. A. J. Freiman, O.B.E.; Vice-Presidents : Eastern Division, Mrs. A. Raginsky, Sr., Mrs. H. Singer; Central Division, Mrs. D. Dunkelman, Mrs. A. B. Bennett; Western Division, Mrs. M. Rady, Mrs. D. P. Gotlieb; Honorary Secretary, Mrs. M. Garfmkle; Honorary Treasurer, Mrs. L. Miller. The Ontario and Western Regions continue to be important factors in the stimulation of Zionist efforts in their respective sections of the Dominion. Mr. Henry S. Rosenberg is the President of the Ontario Region, and Mr. A. M. Shinbane, K.C., is the President of the Western Region. The Ontario Region was organised in 1931; the Western Region in 1932.
