Zionist youth activity is carried on under the auspices of the Federation of Young Judaea. At the present time there are 230' clubs in Young Judaea in 58 centres comprising over 4,100 members. Canadian Young Judaea recently completed a campaign to raise $5,000 as an endowment fund for an annual scholarship in the Hebrew University. This money has been loaned to the Jewish National Fund and the interest will be devoted to the annual scholarship. At the present time Young Judaea is raising a fund to promote the educational facilities of the Training School for Sailors in Palestine, maintained by the Zebulun Palestine Seafaring Society. A monthly magazine, The Judaean, is the chief medium of propaganda among the Jewish youth. This magazine is supplemented by further educational material sent from time to time to. the affiliated clubs. The Zionist Order Habonim consists of six lodges in Montreal, Toronto, St. John, N.B., and Glace Bay, N.S. Habonim lodges, where established, are the centres of Zionist activity in their respective communities. The officers of the Habonim are : Supreme Nassi, S. E. Schwisberg; Supreme M'fakeid, J. J.. Wasserman; Supreme Mazkir, Bernard Figler; Supreme Gizbar, J. Berkson; Supreme M'chahen, H. L. Sourkes; Supreme Sadran,, Henry Shapiro. Since March, 1934, the Zionist Organisation of Canada has. been publishing its own monthly organ, The Canadian Zionist. This periodical is becoming a most important factor in the cultural work of the Zionist movement in the Dominion. The magazine goes to 6,000 Zionist homes. The Anglo-Jewish weeklies and Yiddish daily newspapers have, in practically all cases, co-operated in Zionist propaganda. The following have shown a favourable attitude towards Zionism : in Montreal, the Canadian Jewish Chronicle (Anglo-Jewish) and the Canadian Jewish Eagle (Yiddish); in Toronto, the Jewish Standard (Anglo-Jewish) and the Toronto Hebrew Daily Journal (Yiddish) r in Winnipeg, the Western Jewish News (Anglo-Jewish), the Jewish Post (Anglo-Jewish) and the Israelite Press (Yiddish), and in Vancouver, the Jewish Western Bulletin (Anglo-Jewish). In 1933 Canada had its first organised effort for a Shekel registration. Three thousand Shekolim were sold, exclusive of the- 2,606 registered Hadassah members for the year 1932-33. Canada was entitled to four delegates. The General Zionists elected twodelegates and the Poalei Zion two. The Shekel registration has shown considerable progress in the last two years. 15,216 Shekolim were sold from September 1st, 1933, to May 17th, 1935. In 5695, 9,994 Shekolim holders were registered. These figures include the 3,600 registered Hadassah members. The year 5695 therefore shows an increase of 4,000- Shekel holders, over the last Congress year, exclusive of Hadassah registered members. Canada will have five delegates at the 19th Zionist Congress.
