French Morocco.—In April, 1934, Mme. Sasia Erlich, delegate of the. Head Office, visited Casablanca with satisfactory results. She was assisted by Messrs. Elias Ettedgui, President of the Keren Hayesod Committee, S. D. Levy, Treasurer, Yahia Zagury, President of the Jewish community, Salomon Kagan and M. Thursz, editor of L'Avenir Illustre. Austria.—Prof. A. Freud and Dr. L. Kantor remained in charge of propaganda activities. Hof rat Dr. L. Werner is Chairman of the Keren Hayesod Committee with Director S. Altmann as Vice- Chairman. France.—Mr. Nathan Halpern, our long-standing delegate and friend, passed away in October, 1933. During that year, Dr. Weizmann, Dr. A. Goldstein and Mme. Sasia Erlich had rendered assistance by addressing meetings and banquets and by individual, visits. From January to March, 1934, Dr. Michael Traub took charge of the work, succeeded by Dr. Israel Auerbach in April,, 1934. In March, 1934, a special Keren Hayesod Committee was formed to work among the refugees from Germany, headed by Messrs. Frankenstein and Gronemann. Mme. Erlich and Mr. Boris Aisenbud carried through campaigns in the Provinces. The members of the Committee, too, took an active part in the work. Dr. A. Ryvkind was in charge of the work among the Eastern European Jews. The Keren Hayesod Committee in Strasbourg organised and took care of the work in Alsace. Belgium.—Mr. B. Aisenbud resigned his secretarial position during the period under review. Mr. J. Blumberg, delegate of the Head Office, was in charge of the work during the past two1 years.. Dr. Hantke paid a visit to Belgium in November, 1933, and Mr. Edmond Fleg delivered a lecture there in March, 1934. The period covered by this report also saw the establishment of the journal Réalisation. In April and May, 1935, the Committee was engaged in the preparations for the Palestine Pavilion in Brussels. Sweden. Here too, fund-raising activities were confined to a collection in favour of German Jews, of which the Keren Hayesod allocation was £500, earmarked for the provision of houses for German settlers in Beer Tuvia. Denmark.—The collection made in 5694 for the benefit of German Jews prevented any fund-raising effort on behalf of the Keren Hayesod. In the course of 5695, Rabbi Dr. W. Friediger, the new Chairman of the Keren Hayesod Committee, inaugurated a Keren Hayesod campaign proper, the results of which are not yet available. Norway.—Small amounts were received for the settlement of German Jews. Danzig.—Dr. Isaac Landau, former Chairman of the Committee, removed to Palestine, succeeded by Mr. Franz Cohn. Dr. Joachim Prinz, assisted by Mr. J. Blumberg, launched the campaign of 5694, which, in 5695, only took place in June. 138
