Italy.—The present Committee includes Dr. Augusto Levi,. Chairman, Dr. Umberto Nahon and Engineer Gualtiero Cividalli. Work is progressing very satisfactorily, though somewhat handicapped by German relief collections. Mr. Rudolf Jonas, delegate of the Head Office, is assisted by a large staff of voluntary workers. On her return journey from Egypt, Mme. Sasia Erlich delivered lectures in Milan and Florence. Luxembourg.—The Jewish Agency Committee continued to take care of Keren Hayesod activities. In 5694 Dr. Otto Abeles was the foreign delegate and in 5695 Dr. Israel Auerbach. Bulgaria.—The work was carried on by the same Committee as before. Unfortunately, it was seriously handicapped by internal conflicts, as well as by separate collections, such as for German refugees, Kfar Ussischkin and " Mifal Arlosorofï." Dr. I. Olsvanger proceeded to Bulgaria towards the end of 1933 and paid visits to five cities. Estonia.—The Committee is composed of Mr. G. Eisenstadt as Chairman, and Mrs. P. Aisenstadt and Mr. S. Fraenkel as Vice- Chairmen, Mr. E. Gendel being Secretary and Treasurer. In 1933, the Keren Hayesod campaign was carried through by local forces; the same year saw a drive in favour of "Mifal Arlosorofï." In 1934, Mr. Baruch Zuckermann took charge of the Keren Hayesod campaign. Finland.—Our friend, Mr. M. Skurnik, Chairman of the Committee, passed away during the period under review, succeeded by Dr. J. Pergament, President of the Jewish community. Mr. Baruch Zuckermann organised the Keren Hayesod campaign of 5694. Greece.—The Committee is divided into an honorary and an active section. Mr. Arditti functions as secretary of the Keren Hayesod. In October, 1934, Dr. M. Helfman represented the Board of Directors at the annual Zionist Conference. A joint campaign with the Keren Kayemeth Leisrael was launched, two-thirds of the proceeds going to the Keren Hayesod and one-third to the Keren Kayemeth, Mr. Tchernowitz of the Keren Kayemeth heading the Drive. Mr. M. Bessantchi, President of the Zionist Federation, visited the Provinces on behalf of the Keren Hayesod. Hungary.—Owing to special circumstances, activities had to be confined to the same small scale as in the period covered by the previous report. Dr. I. Olsvanger visited Budapest on behalf of the Head Office in April, 1935. Spain and Portugal.—After a longish interval Mr. Israel Cohen visited Spain and Portugal in November/December, 1934. In Madrid the Zionist Society was reconstituted under the Presidency of Senor Ignacio Bauer, with Dr. Georg Sachs as honorary secretary. The visit there, as well as to Barcelona, was more in the nature of a preparatory effort, Keren Hayesod campaigns proper being planned for the course of the next year. Mr. and Mrs. J. Gerzon and Mr. Levy Cohen are responsible for the Zionist work carried on in Barcelona. J39
