■against twenty-two in the preceding year. Apart from the delegates Messrs. D. Helfman, S. Pinsky, Adv. A. Cremer, Dr. Kutik and M. Kotier, Messrs. Dr. Nemerower, Dr. Baruch, Adv. Orenstein, Dr. Mibashan, Dr. Janko, Adv. L. Misrachi, Dr. Ebner, Gruenberg- Moldawan, A. Mendelsohn, D. Komerowski, S. Fichman and J. Sprinzak took part in the work. The Jewish communities were drawn in to a larger extent than before. Fresh efforts were made to enlist youth in support of the Keren Hayesod. Youth meetings were held and youthful helpers above the age of twenty actively participated in the work. Bessarabia.—Mr. S. Berliand, President of the Committee, and Mr. Jizchak Berger, permanent delegate of the Head Office, continued in their respective posts. Dr. I. Olsvanger was the visiting delegate in 5694 as well as in 5695. Transylvania.—There was no change in the composition of the Keren Hayesod Committee. After the worst effects of the economic crisis had waned, Keren Hayesod activities took a decided turn for the better and showed correspondingly good results. Dr. M. Gelber was delegate of the Head Office in 5694, Mrs. R. Klompus succeeding him in 5695, Mr. Ludwig Loebl being in charge of the office and of propaganda activities, assisted by a large number of voluntary workers. Dr. I. Olsvanger likewise assisted in 1934 and 1935 by means of lectures delivered up and down the country. Bukowina.—There has been marked and steady progress. In the Provinces the work was reorganised and intensified. Dr. B. Kontorszcyk was at the head of the 5694 and 5695 campaigns. Dr. Hantke visited Cernauti at the end of October, 1934. In December, 1934, the annual Keren Hayesod Conference was held, attended by Dr. I. Olsvanger as delegate of the Board of Directors. This Conference re-elected Max Ritter von Anhauch as President of the Keren Hayesod Committee and Messrs. Zwilling and Gustav Hildebrandt as Vice-Presidents. Both the President and Mr. Zwilling participated most actively in the work. Lithuania.—No change took place in the composition of the Praesidium in the period under review, Mr. Jatkunsky likewise retaining his post as office manager. In 5694, Mr. Baruch Zuckermann was delegate of the Head Office, whilst in the following year no outside forces were drawn upon for the purposes of the campaign. Latvia.—The Committee, which had remained unchanged during the period under review, suffered a grievous loss in the death of Mr. M. Mushkat, member of the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Agency. In 5694, Mr. B. Zuckermann visited Latvia as delegate of the Head Office. Australia.—Dr. Benzion Shein arrived in Australia towards the end of June, 1933. His itinerary included Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Broken Hill, Newcastle and Brisbane.
