Chile.—Owing to internal differences the campaign of 5694,. which was to rely on local forces, was considerably delayed. Mr. Graiver, delegate of the Head Office for Central America, paid a visit to Chile, which yielded satisfactory results. Mr. Ch. Trumper, Chairman of the Zionist Federation, and Mr. Ch. S. Rabinowicz, Chairman of the Keren Hayesod Committee, shared the work between them. Peru.—Mr. Graiver is working in Peru whilst this report is going to press. Central America.—Mr. Graiver will conduct his fund-raising effort on behalf of the Keren Hayesod right through the summer months. Old-Rumania.—During the period under review the work in Bucarest and in the Provinces has been intensified in various directions. In Bucarest attention was concentrated on increasing the number of contributors and the amount contributed, whilst in the Provinces it was sought to enlarge the radius of activity. Special meetings were arranged in Bucarest for industrialists which were addressed by Minister Arciszewski, Dr. A. Hantke and others. Engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc., were also organised with the assistance of H. Arent, Eng. L. Bisehoff, Gila Gliktion, Adv. M. Weissmann and Dr. M. Helfman. Various mass meetings were addressed, in addition to Minister Arciszewski and Dr. Hantke, by Messrs. Adolf Bernhard, Dr. Singer, Dr. Baruch and Dr. Helfman. Particular efforts were made to increase the number of voluntary collaborators, more especially of the ACFE, for whom a Zionist Seminary was established during the period under review. New helpers have been enlisted, more particularly from among Russian and Hungarian circles. The visits of Mr. Elieser Kaplan and J. Sprinzak served to stimulate the work of our voluntary helpers. The Keren Hayesod Conference of December, 1933, elected a new Committee with Mr. Adolf Bernhardt as President, Dr. A. Mibashan as Vice-President and Eng. L. Bisehoff as Treasurer. In the course of 1934, another Committee was formed in support of the Central Committee, in which the two Chief Rabbis and the two Presidents of the Ashkenasic and Sephardic communities accepted membership. The Keren Hayesod Committee has issued the following propaganda literature in Rumanian : Impressions of Palestine, by Arciszewski, Theory and Reality of Zionism, and Eretz Israel in 1934, by Dr. M. Helfman (issued by the Zionist Organisation), as well as Striving and Realisation (published by the Keren Hayesod). Moreover, an illustrated weekly, Palaestina de Azi, in 2,000—4,000 copies was issued and a weekly bulletin for co-workers. Articles were supplied to the general press. In spite of bad economic conditions, there is a fervent interest for Palestine in the Provinces as a result of which activities could be extended. In the course of 5694 thirty-seven places were visited 135
