Mass meetings in 5694 were addressed by Dr. Chaim Weizmann, Dr. Shmaryahu Levin, Dr. Alexander Goldstein, D. Ben Gurion, Zwi Yehuda, E. Kaplan, S. Rubashow, Dr. Remez and Ch. Schurr. The campaign of 5695 was inaugurated with an appeal in favour of "Mifal Rothschild," the whole proceeds of which will go towards some colonising enterprise honouring the name and memory of Baron Edmond de Rothschild. On December 9th, 1934, the Annual Keren Hayesod Conference took place in Tel-Aviv, attended by 160 delegates and by Dr. Chaim Weizmann, L. Jaffe, Dr. Shmaryahu Levin, E. Kaplan and Dr. Alexander Goldstein. This Conference elected a new Committee headed by Messrs. J. Adler (Chairman), Dr. A. Hurwitz and J. Klinow (Vice-Chairmen), A. Hermoni, A. Holodenko and Zwi Jehuda. The Chairmen of the Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa local Committees are Messrs. L. Levin-Epstein, Dr. B. Mossinson and Dr. M. Soloweitschik respectively. In the course of 5695 a special pamphlet was distributed among labour circles and a propaganda booklet was published more particularly for German immigrants by Dr. G. Holdheim. The greeting sent by Mr. Dizengoff for the opening of the campaign was reproduced in facsimile and distributed to all the residents of Tel Aviv and the Judaean colonies. Prof. Brodetsky, Dr. A. Barth, Dr. Nahum Goldmann, Dr. A. Hantke, Mr. L. Jaffe, B. Katznelson, Dr. M. Soloweitschik, Mr. M. Kentridge, Dr. A. Ruppin, Mr. S. Schocken and Mr. M. Shertok delivered speeches at mass meetings during 5695. Poland.—The fourth annual Keren Hayesod Conference in February, 1934, in which Mr. L. Jaffe participated, elected a new Directorate of twelve members, with Prof. Dr. M. Schorr once more as President and Messrs. A. Hartglass and M. Maisal as Vice-Presidents. A new Keren Hayesod Commission of seventy-six members, with Dr. M. Braude, of Lodz, as Chairman, was also set up, as well as a Control Commission of four members. The new Executive includes Dr. M. Hindes, Chairman, Dr. J. Gruenfeld, Vice-Chairman, Government Councillor S. Adelberg, Mrs. Levite and Mr. M. Temkin. Mr. A. Levinson remained in charge of the office. Mr. L. Jaffe headed the campaign of 5694, the inauguration of which was assisted by Lady Erleigh. In 5695, the Committee relied exclusively upon its local forces for carrying through the drive. The Head Office sent Messrs. M. Juris and W. Latzky- Bartholdy in order to strengthen propaganda activities, whilst Mr. Kolodny was stationed once more at Lodz. Western Galicia.—During the past two years, Keren Hayesod activities in Western Poland and Silesia proceeded along normal lines and showed approximately normal receipts. The work was organised by the Central Office in Cracow, with the assistance, and under the supervision, of the District Board of Directors, whose composition had remained the same as in the previous report period. 132
