יי- . 22 — Connection I may be permitted to rectify an oversight on my part in not mentioning in the chapter on the Pilpul (Parody p. 153 and seq.) that Dr. Brann had already ascribed it to the year 1680 in his article: *Die Familie Rapoport“ (Centenarium, p. 398) •though he advanced no reasons for hi8 assertion. Other points worth while calling attention to are the following. The inscription on the title page of the Montefiore Ms. as reproduced in the edition אשכו״ל הנפץ במצח משפחתו ועלי ד״ת טר״ף כפיו corresponds to the coat of arms printed on the title page of the Centenarium (Hirschfeld, Descriptive Catalogue No. 454 states that this Ms. has no title_ page). In the list of the New Testament passages quoted (p III—IV) is omitted Matthew XXVII, 46 (p. 12); Acts XV, 2 should read 20, the mistake being that of the copyist; Matthew XIII, 5J5 is correct but in the manuscript it is 25; Mark vi 3 is in״ the text XVI, 3. The editor should not have hesitated to include the references to the Hizzuk Emu nah which I have prepared with considerable care (Parody, p. .159—160). ln fact he would only have done his duty ,if he showed the inner relationship of these two Anti-Christian polemics by putting one or two of the similar passages along 8ide of each other. As to the text itself it is pleasing to state that the editor was very fortunate in his manuscripts, especially in that of the Montefiore Library, which is the only one that has the additicnal matter from p. 49 to p. 83. A careful comparison of the edition with the three Mss. in the library of the Jewish Theological Seminary has not produced any important variants. Withal, there are many important passages that are obscure, and the editor has done absolutely nothing towards the elucidation of them. In this place I can only eite a few instances. P. 1, 1. 1 גם איד זה Cf. Eccl. VII, 14; 1. 2 והראשון read והוא ראשון; l. 9—10 הוא ענד. וסצא היפים . . . ובסשסרה שנייה Cf. ßaba Bathra 115b, Berakoth 3a; 1. 20 שתיקומא Cf.
