БАРЕНБАУМ Иосиф Евсеевич (р. 1921, Канев Киевской губ.), книговед, канд. ист. наук (1954), д-р филол. наук (1967), акад. РАЕН (1992). В 1938 поступил на филол. ф-т ЛГУ. Летом 1941 ушел добровольцем на фронт, участник обороны Ленинграда. В 1942 после тяжелого ранения демобилизован, в 1945 окончил ЛГУ. С 1951 преподавал в Ленингр. гос. библиотечном ин-те, с 1968 – проф., в 1977–88 зав. кафедрой общей библиографии и книговедения. Автор 300 работ по истории книги и книжного дела, проблемам книговедения, истории читателя, книжным связям; автор биографий деятелей рос. и зарубежной книги. По инициативе и под рук. Б. проводятся Смирдинские чтения, посвященные изучению истории книжного дела Петербурга, истории читателя и книжным связям.Б. – чл. Im Sommer 1941 meldete er sich freiwillig für die Front, ein Teilnehmer an der Verteidigung Leningrads. Nach einer schweren Verletzung wurde er 1942 demobilisiert, 1945 absolvierte er die Staatliche Universität Leningrad. Ab 1951 unterrichtete er in Leningrad.
