Kislak copy formerly owned by Jacob (Espir) of Prague, sojourning in Carpentras (inscription, front free end). Purchased from David of Jarosław. Note that since this doesn't properly add up as a chronogram, I'm only using the highlighted letters of ד״ך - 24, 1764, 23 Av = Tuesday, Aug. 21, 1764. Jacob Espir (really Speier, Speyer), son of R. Aviezri, dayan of Prague (1701? - 1778) was a rabbinical figure who was brought in to the communities of Spanish Jewish in the French Papal States, moving from Prague to Avignon and settling in Carpentras, opening the Talmudical academy there. He was an ancestor of Adolphe Crémieux. Jacob's son, Elia Vitta de Espir, was a member of Napoleon's Sanhedrin and his daughters married into the Sefardic Provençal famillies - Cremieux, Monteaux, and married family included families of Attias, Saint-Paul, and Cavallion.
