B. GORIN (real name and fam. Itzhak Goyda), (1868, Lida Vilna province - 1925, New York), prose writer, playwright, translator, historian of t-ra. Received a tradition. Heb. education. At the age of 16 he came to Vilna. He made his debut in 1889 with the story "Zikroynois fun cheder" ("Memories of a cheder"). Since 1894 in the USA. Пьесы Г. «Дос вильнер балебесл», «Барух Спиноза» и др. ставились на сценах амер. евр. т-ров. Одна из лучших пьес – комедия «Ин йедн гойз» («В каждом доме»), поставл. в 1924 «Кунст-театром» Мориса Шварца. Г. перевел на идиш произв. Л.Толстого, О.Бальзака, Г.Мопассана, А.Чехова, М.Горького, Л.Андреева, Э.Золя и др. Всю жизнь Г. собирал материалы по истории евр. т-ра, в 1918 вышла его монография «История евр. т-ра – две тысячи лет т-ра у евреев».
