RAPOPORT Aron Ilyich (c. 1865 - c. 1920, Lodz, Poland), public figure, entrepreneur. Received a tradition. Jewish religion education, was engaged in wholesale and retail. trade. In the 1890s. settled in Penza. Here approx. 1900 came before. Penza Jewish religion. community and head of the synagogue. Until the end. 1917 Jewish life in the city is associated with the name of R.: the first Jewish schools were opened, a large library was assembled, city-wide evenings and performances were organized, a company "Helping the Poor" was created to organize Jews coming from the Pale of Settlement. In 1917 he lost all his property. He died at the house of his son-in-law.

Er starb im Haus seines Schwiegersohnes.

В 1890-е гг. поселился в Пензе. Здесь ок. 1900 стал пред. Пензенской еврейской религ. общины и старостой синагоги. До кон. 1917 еврейская жизнь города связана с именем Р.: открыты первые еврейские школы, собрана большая б-ка, устраивались общегородские вечера и спектакли, создана компания «Помогающие бедным» для устройства евреев, приезжающих из черты оседлости. В 1917 лишился всего имущества. Умер в доме своего зятя.
