DUBIN Mordechai (1889 - 1956, Tula), polit. Aktivist. Stange. in der Familie des Lubavitch Hasid. Habe einen Handel. Heb. religiös Bildung. In den Jahren 1919–34 gab es eine Dep. Vom lettischen Landtag der Partei "Agudas Isroel". Mit dem Prez befreundet sein. K. Ulmanis trug dazu bei, die antisemitische Atmosphäre im Land zu mildern. Er nahm aktiv an sozialen und religiösen Angelegenheiten teil. Leben des lettischen Judentums. Nach der Annexion Lettlands an die UdSSR (1940) wurde er unterdrückt. Bei seiner Rückkehr aus dem Exil (1946) wurde er eine der Hände. Operationen für die illegale Abreise von Hunderten von Familien der Lubavitch Chassidim (1946) aus der UdSSR. 1948 wurde er verhaftet.

Будучи в дружеских отношениях с през. Латвии К.Улманисом содействовал смягчению антисемитской атмосферы в стране. Принимал активное участие в общественно-религ. жизни латвийского еврейства. После присоединения Латвии к СССР (1940) был репрессирован. По возвращению из ссылки (1946) стал одним из рук. операции по нелегальному выезду из СССР сотен семей любавичских хасидов (1946). В 1948 был арестован.
