VOLMIR Arnold Sergeevich (1910, Petersburg - 1986, Moscow), physicist. Dr. Tech. Sciences (1950), prof. Graduated from Kharkov mechanic-machine-building. Institute (1931). He taught first in Kharkov, and then at the department of building. aviation mechanics structures in the Military air. Ing. academy named after N.E. Zhukovsky (since 1942). Specialist in the theory of stability and dynamics of thin-walled structures. His research. devoted to the nonlinear theory of shells, static. and dynamic. stability of elastic systems, vibration theory. The first of the decree. cycles of his work are summarized in the monograph "Flexible Plates and Shells" (1956, translated into German), the second - in "Stability of Deformable Systems" (1963; 2nd ed., 1967). The theory of vibrations and hydroaeroelasticity includes "Nonlinear dynamics of plates and shells" (1972) and "Shells in the flow of liquid and gas" (vols. 1–2, respectively, problems of aeroelasticity and hydroelasticity, 1976–79). V. dealt with problems of biomechanics. Participated in the preparation of the account. course of resistance of materials (1953-54) and collection of articles. tasks for this course (1984). Honored. active science and technology of the RSFSR (1975).

Er unterrichtete zuerst in Charkow und dann in der Bauabteilung. Luftfahrtmechaniker Strukturen in der militärischen Luft. Ing. Akademie benannt nach N. E. Zhukovsky (seit 1942). Spezialist für die Theorie der Stabilität und Dynamik dünnwandiger Strukturen. Seine Forschung. gewidmet der nichtlinearen Theorie der Schalen, statisch. und dynamisch. Stabilität elastischer Systeme, Schwingungstheorie. Der erste des Dekrets. Zyklen seiner Arbeit sind in der Monographie "Flexible Platten und Schalen" (1956, übersetzt ins Deutsche) zusammengefasst, die zweite - in "Stabilität verformbarer Systeme" (1963; 2. Aufl., 1967). Die Theorie der Schwingungen und der Hydroaeroelastizität umfasst "Nichtlineare Dynamik von Platten und Schalen" (1972) und "Schalen im Fluss von Flüssigkeit und Gas" (Bd. 1–2, Probleme der Aeroelastizität und Hydroelastizität, 1976–79). V. befasste sich mit Problemen der Biomechanik. Teilnahme an der Erstellung des Kontos. Kurs über Materialbeständigkeit (1953-54) und Sammlung Aufgaben für diesen Kurs (1984). Geehrt. aktiv Wissenschaft und Technologie des RSFSR (1975).

ВОЛЬМИР Арнольд Сергеевич (1910, Петербург – 1986, Москва), физик. Д-р техн. наук (1950), проф. Окончил Харьковский механико-маш.-строит. ин-т (1931). Преподавал сначала в Харькове, а затем на кафедре строит. механики авиац. конструкций в Военно-возд. инж. академии им. Н.Е.Жуковского (с 1942). Специалист по теории устойчивости и динамике тонкостенных конструкций. Его иссл. посвящены нелинейной теории оболочек, статич. и динамич. устойчивости упругих систем, теории колебаний. Первый из указ. циклов его работ подытожен в монографии «Гибкие пластинки и оболочки» (1956, переведена на нем. яз.), второй – в «Устойчивости деформируемых систем» (1963; 2 изд., 1967). К теории колебаний и гидроаэроупругости относятся «Нелинейная динамика пластинок и оболочек» (1972) и «Оболочки в потоке жидкости и газа» (т. 1–2 соответственно, задачи аэроупругости и гидроупругости, 1976–79). В. занимался проблемами биомеханики. Участвовал в подготовке уч. курса сопротивления материалов (1953—54) и сб. задач по этому курсу (1984). Засл. деят. науки и техники РСФСР (1975).
