The Jewish Tribune, edited by Mr. D. I. Sargorr,. continues its. work as an important medium of Zionist propaganda. NEW ZEALAND. During the period of this report Dr. B. Shein visited Auckland,. Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Hamilton, in all of which cities he delivered a great number of addresses to both Jewish and non-Jewish audiences. Although his tour was specifically on behalf of the Keren Hayesod it is bound to prove of considerablebenefit to the interests of the Zionist movement in general. D.-WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL ZIONIST ORGANISATION. The holding of the Vlllth Biennial Conference of the W.I.Z.O. in Palestine in March, 1935, was the culminating event of a session of development and achievement worthy of a distinctive place in the annals of the Organisation. Attended by 355 delegates representing 25 Federations and Groups from thirty countries throughout the world (including members of the London and Palestine Executive and the Council) the Conference—the first International Zionist or Jewish Conference to be held in the Homeland—was an unprecedented success both from the view-point of the furtherance of WIZO work in general and of the far-reaching propaganda influence which, by virtue of their presence in Erez Israel, the delegates were able to carry back with them to the constituent Federations and Groups. The main issues on which the Conference deliberations were focussed were : (a) Hachshara and Aliyah of girls and women; (b) Consolidation of WIZO Institutions in Palestine; (c) Internal Organisation and Propaganda; (d) Constitution of Young WIZO; (e) Participation of WIZO in K.K.L. work; (/) Finance. With regard to Hachshara, in addition to a Resolution addressed to the Government urging the removal of immigration restrictions, the reform of the present system of Hachshara, especially in-so-far as girls and women were concerned, was advocated. The WIZO was prepared to place all its available forces at the disposal of the Jewish Agency and the Keren Hayesod in order that an effective appeal might be made to the Jewish people at large on behalf of the Hachshara of young people. A Memorandum on this question will be submitted by the WIZO Executive to the forthcoming Congress, as well as a request that Labour Certificates should, in future, be equally divided between men and women. Meanwhile representations are to be made to 256
