Publicity.—The Zionist Record is our official weekly organ and likewise the leading Jewish newspaper in South Africa. It can point to an increase in circulation and revenue. Mention must also be made of the S.A. Jewish Chronicle, which does such valuable work for Zionism at the Cape. Financial Activity. Shekel.—There was a declining tendency in our Shekel collections until the year 5692. Improvements occurred in the year 5693 (10,900 shekolim) and 5694 (11,500), while the returns for 5695 show still further improvement. Keren Hayesod.—The K.H. campaign, which was launched and led by Mr. Sokolow and Mr. Leib Jaffe, yielded the record figure of £145,000 in pledges. About £55,000 was received in 1934 on .account of the pledges made in that year, which compares favourably with previous results. There is still a sum of about £8,000 outstanding on account of the total pledges of £75,000 made in 1932. much of which will doubtless come in. The final discharge of our obligation in regard to Kfar Yeladim is nearly completed, the only remaining obligation being the maintenance at Ben Shemen of nine children up to September of this year. Jewish National Fund.—-The income of the Federation in South Africa was £21,881 lis. Id. in 1933 and £17,432 13s. 5d. in 1934. At the Conference in Bloemfontein a resolution was adopted, pledging the Federation to raise the sum of £40,000 to redeem an area in the Upper Huleh region (in Palestine). Dr. B. Shein is now in South Africa as the special delegate of the Head Office of the Jewish National Fund and is in active charge of the campaign. SWITZERLAND. The Central Committee of the Swiss Federation has its office in Basle and consists of the following : Dr. Markus Cohn (President); Dr. Mosche Newiasky (Secretary); Dr. Alfred Wyler (Treasurer); Hans Ditisheim (National Fund); B. Bornstein, Dr. J. Friedmann, Arch. M. Hack, Dr. S. Scheps and Dr. S. Seidenberg. Fraulein Weil is Secretary of the Central Committee and of the Keren Kayemeth. The Swiss Federation comprises 900 members, and consists of the following party groups :—General Zionists (9), Poale Zion (1), Mizrachi (4), Revisionists (4), and some Youth societies (Brith Habonim), Students' Societies, etc. The Mizrachi societies are combined in a General Mizrachi Organisation, the Revisionist groups also form a separate association, and the General Zionists have lately established their own union. In the Spring of 1935 Conferences of the General Zionists, the Mizrachi and the Revisionists took place. There are organised groups in the following towns : Baden, Basel, Berne, Biel, Geneva, St. Gallen, 238
