belong to all sections of the population, and our work has in consequence appreciably increased. The great urge of the Jewish people to settle in Palestine demands greater efforts on our part in the sphere of immigration and in the preparations for it. Organisation.—The number of branches has increased during the past two years from 190 to over 300. At our Conference last November we already had over 13,000 organised members with the right to vote. The Conference was attended by over 300 delegates. Executive.—The Conference held on November 4th and 5th, 1934, elected an Executive of twenty members, including the following Presidium : Dr. E. Schmorak, President; Dr. H. Rosmarin, Dr. Emil Sommerstein, Dr. Fischel Rottenstreich and Dr. Adolf Rothfeld, Vice-Presidents; Dr. A. Stupp, General Secretary; and Dr. David Schreiber, Chairman of the Party Council and member of the Presidium. The following were elected members of the Executive : Dr. A. Blaustein, Dr. H. Dattner, E. Ekerling, Dr. M. Gayer, Mr. H. Hescheles, Mr. J. Hoch, Dinah Karlowa, Mr. N. Landau, Mr. S. Leder, Dr. M. Leser, Dr. A. Schwarz, Mr. N. Weinreb. The Party Council consisting of about 100 members met five times since the last Congress. Youth Movement.—The " Hechaluz Plaklal Zioni " comprises about 6,000 members, of whom 1,000 are in training, and forms about 30 per cent, of the total membership of all Chaluz organisations. The number of training centres is 44, including six .agricultural centres, three for technical training, two special centres for girls, and thirty-one centres in towns. Our Chaluz organisation has three agricultural farms, one at Sygniowka near Lemberg, one at Stanislau, and one at Halicz, where special attention is given to bee-keeping. The farm at Halicz is only in the initial, stage of its development. A.chva.—This association has over 8,000 members in about 200 branches. Hanoar Hazioni has 7,000 members in 120 branches. Histadruth Akademaim Zionim has 1,200 members in 25 branches. A strong movement in favour of Chaluziuth has recently manifested itself among the University youth. More than two years ago there was founded under the name " Zionim Baalei Mikzoah," an organisation of artisans, which has 'developed and now has groups in about 100 places. Special 'importance has attached to cultural work in these branches and good progress can be recorded. The organisation of our farmers, " Histadruth Chaklaim Zionim," has been formed since the last Congress. The need for well-trained farmers, on the one hand, and the position of the Jewish population in the villages of East Galicia, on the other hand .(60,000 Jews live in villages), have prompted us to embrace this 229
