of new members is naturally continuing, and we are able to record additions every month. This is a proof that the Zionist idea is, thanks to vigorous propaganda, a living movement in Luxembourg. The work of the Federation has been greatly furthered by our " Beth-Am," which houses all the Zionist bodies of Luxembourg. As the Zionist youth have been provided with premises of their own on whicL to hold their discussions their development has been facilitated. The members of the " Beth Am Ivri " are for the most part registered members of the Zionist Federation. The work for the Keren Hayesod and the Keren Kayemeth has been considerably intensified in order that the receipts of previous years should be greatly increased. During the past two years man}^ new boxes of the K.K. have been distributed, resulting in an increase of contributions; and collections are also made on suitable occasions. It is expected that the receipts for 1935 will be about three to four times the amount contributed in 1934. The K.H. campaign in 1934 resulted in an increase of 60 per cent, upon the contributions of 1933, whilst the number of contributors rose by 50 per cent. It is hoped that the total for the year 1935 will be a considerable improvement upon that of 1934. The Tarbuth work has made great progress during the past few years. Evenings devoted to discussion or readings from the press are regularly held in the " Beth Am " and always arouse a great deal of interest. We also had many visiting speakers, including Hans Goslar, Adolf Pollak, Martin Buber, Leopold Metzger, Nahum Goldmann, Dr. B. Weiler, Dr. Tschernowitz, etc. The most important factor in our Tarbuth work consists of the Hebrew courses. There is a Hebrew school for children, which is attended by about 80 pupils, who receive instruction in Hebrew history and the geography of Palestine as well as in Hebrew. The instruction is given gratuitously by a member of our committee. There is an evening course for adults (attended by about fifty persons), and there is also a Hebrew kindergarten. The two Zionist Youth Organisations are " Hanoar Hazioni " and the " Zionist Youth Group," both of them established upon the initiative of members of the Federation. " Hanoar Hazioni " includes only members between the years of twelve and sixteen, is of a general Zionist character and propagates the Chaluz ideal. Both groups hold regular discussions. Early in 1934, as a result of the negotiations with the Luxembourg Government, facilities were obtained for the placing of a number of individual Chaluzim for training purposes. There are at present about seventy Chaluzim in suchindustrial places in the Grand Duchy, and the number will very soon be increased. There is also the " Kibbuz Alt Wies," which is a separate Hachshara settlement, where forty persons are at present in training. The Chaluzim in the individual places are looked after by our Palestine Office. The Palestine Office occupies a very important place in the Zionist life of Luxembourg; through its medium many people 223
