of stimulating their activity. Our Secretary has visited a large number of towns, trying to reorganise the societies so that they may undertake more energetic activity, and has established branches where they did not exist previously. We can say, to our satisfaction, that at the present moment there are well-organised branches in all the towns where there is a large Jewish population. The Central Committee has decided to convene in Paris, from June 8th to 10th, the first Conference of the Zionists of France, at which all the towns will be represented by delegates. We hope that after this Conference our means of activity will be strengthened and that we shall be able to do good work for Erez Israel. France—Eastern District. The last Annual Conference of delegates took place on December 23rd, 1934, and was attended by 56 delegates. Important resolutions were adopted in regard to organisation, the Shekel, Keren Kayemeth, the Keren Hayesod, Palestine immigration, political problems and the acquisition of the Huleh concession. The Conference decided to raise the sum of 250,000 frs. for the K.K.L. in 5695, and made it incumbent upon every Zionist Society to ensure the inscription in the name of the late Baron Edmond de Rothschild in the Golden Book. 209 14
