work for the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and pro-University circles are being formed in all parts of Finland. Thanks to Zionist initiative the poet Saul Tchernichowsky visited Finland as the guest of the Finnish Committee for the celebration of the centenary of the publication of the Finnish epic Kalulah, which Tchernichowsky translated into Hebrew. His visit served as suitable propaganda for Hebrew literature and Palestine reconstruction both among Jews and non-Jews. 4. The Zionist Funds: The work for the Keren Hayesod is entrusted to the Councils of the Jewish communities, which conduct the campaign with the active help of the Zionists. Keren Hayesod work has been somewhat neglected recently, but the work for the Keren Kayemeth is proceeding apace and there is a considerable improvement in the results of the collections for this Fund. 5. Another organisation, consisting of the Zionist 3'outh, called " Blau-Weiss," which is affiliated to our organisation, works among the youth and organises meetings, Hebrew courses, and a seminary for Jewish history and the history of Zionism. In December, 1934, there took place a small preliminary conference of the principal Zionist societies in the Provinces. A programme of future work was adopted, which has been followed up, and a central committee was elected, consisting of the following : M. I. Naiditch, President; Dr. A. B. Rywkind, Secretary; Mile. Dr. A. Bass, Mme. L. Eliachefï, Dr. S. Gronemann, M. I. Lapsker, J. Massis, M. Piha, M. Segall. This Committee has undertaken the task of re-organising Zionist work in Paris as well as the branches in the Provinces, and 208
