collecting box activity was re-organised, box collectors instructed in their duties, and intensive propaganda carried out for the organisation of bazaars, social functions, etc. We also paid attention to the intensive exploitation of various opportunities for collection which occur in private and public life, such as using K.K.L. stamps on letters and documents, in the correspondence of private individuals and Zionist Institutions (Bialik Stamp); affixing the Motzkin Stamp on the Zionist Shekel (this levy, endorsed by the Zionist Executive, has been very well received), and the K.K.L. Aliya Stamp on the immigration documents of Palestine Offices. The collection of funds on board ships proceeding to Erez Israel is developing in a gratifying manner. Active propaganda was made for the inscription of various events in the life of our children in the Sefer Hayeled, specially created by the Keren Kayemeth for the purpose. In addition to the regular fund-raising activities special campaigns were carried out. Our propaganda and organising activity during 5694 bore the slogan of the Kfar Menahem Ussishkin campaign, proclaimed by the 18th Zionist Congress at Prague, which aroused the interest of all Zionist parties and was extremely successful in many countries. Veteran Zionists led special collections for this campaign in a number of countries. Youth organisations demanded from their members the acceptance of special quotas for the Kfar Ussishkin campaign, and took an active part in the collections. In many countries the different Zionist parties united to mobilise all forces for this campaign, which thus far has yielded £51,489. At the beginning of 5694 the ArlosorofF Appeal was carried out in many countries. According to the agreement arrived at by the K.K.L., the Keren Hayesod and the leaders of this campaign, a third of the proceeds went to the K.K.L., which realised a sum of £8,800. During the winter of 5695 a very successful collection for Kfar Masaryk was carried out in Czechoslovakia. The money collected in this campaign has not yet been transferred, but it is estimated that the receipts will total almost £10,000. In November, 5695, the Rothschild campaign was proclaimed. In a number of countries collections were made for the inscription of the name of the late Baron Edmond in the Golden Book. The Maccabi World Organisation raised a sum of almost £7,000 for acquiring land for Kfar Maccabi. A campaign by the " Werkleute "—a German youth organisation, whose members come from assimilated Jewish circles—yielded a sum of £5,500, which enabled us to acquire land for their settlement. In Yugoslavia the Zionist institutions organised a campaign for the planting of the King Alexander Forest, while in Belgium a campaign is proceeding for the planting of the King Albert Forest. The campaign for the relief of German Jewry yielded £44,317 for the J.N.F. The above method of collections for various concrete purposes was carefully utilised by the K.K.L. as a means of arousing the 170
