in some countries, especially Eastern Europe, Palestine and South America, there has been an accentuation of party differences and a tendency to internal splits. Good relations have existed between the Federations and the Zionist parties in America, Canada, Belgium, Czecho-Slovakia, Germany, England, Switzerland, South Africa and Yugo-Slavia. The problems connected with these relations are dealt with in cap. 8. Almost all Federations have their own organs or papers in close touch with them. The majority of these papers occupy a leading place in the Jewish newspaper world. Particular mention deserves to be made, in view of their intellectual standard and the reliability of their information, of the following : Juedische Rundschau (Germany); New Palestine (America); Selbstwehr (Czecho-Slovakia); Joodsche Wächter (Holland); Zionist Record (South Africa). It has its special departments for propaganda and cultural work and supports the Youth movement, in which a fusion of the Students' Association and the general Youth Association has been effected. The Federation has assumed the responsibility for the establishment of a Chaluz Farm. The South African Zionist Federation, with its headquarters in Johannesburg, continues to be one of our most successful Federations and one of the most influential organisations in the country. In addition to financial campaigns that were attended by the greatest success, other tasks, including propaganda and youth training, have by no means been neglected. The Federation also takes an active part in practical developments in Palestine through a number of economic undertakings. In Poland there are three Federations, viz. : (a) Poland, comprising Congress Poland and the Eastern border provinces, (b) East Galicia, and (c) West Galicia and Silesia. All these Federations have, despite the oppressive economic situation, mani- H
