These advances were given mainly for maintenance of men and animals in the drought—stricken areas and for the usual purchase of stores of seeds for next year, rents, etc. The income from collection of loans outstanding includes a sum of L. P. 5.000 received from Tel-Aviv. This amount was received on account of previous loans out of an advance given by the Government to Tel-Aviv for ihe alleviation of unemployment. This sum was added to the Labour budget for unemployment relief. 11. Comments on the detailed expenditure of each Department will be found in the respective Departmental Reports. In the accounts of the Colonisation Department the difference between the balances at the end of 5687 as compared with balances at the beginning of 5688 can be explained by certain transfers from one heading to another in the detailed accounts. 59
