С 1909 – во Франции, в 1912 окончил Еврейскую теологич. семинарию в Париже со степенью д-ра теологии, сдал экзамен на звание раввина. С 1915 – в США. Преподавал еврейскую историю в теологич. ин-те (1918–25) и раввинистич. лит-ру в Дронси-колледже (1925–43).
