Schule. Ab 1913 - in Frankreich - studierte er in Paris an der School of Fine Arts (Cl. Cormon). 1920-21 nahm er an den Ausstellungen "47 from Parnassus", "Hundred from Parnassus" 1923 teil - in gr. Ausstellung rus. Künstler "Schlagen". 1927 - die erste persönliche Ausstellung; später fanden die meisten ausstellungen in gal statt. USA und UK. In den Jahren 1958-60 fand die Ausstellung "Soutine and His Circle" in New York, Manchester, London statt. Produkte S. sind in pl. Museen der Welt.- has abstract

SUTIN Chaim (1893, Smilovichi of Igumensky district of Minsk province - 1943, Paris), painter. He took drawing lessons in Minsk, studied at the Vilnius Art. school. From 1913 - in France, he studied in Paris at the School of Fine Arts (Cl. Cormon). He was familiar with MZ Chagal, O. Zadkin and others, having entered the circle of the "Parisian school", became close to A. Modigliani. All R. still lifes, created. S. in the 2nd floor. 1910s, constructiveness was combined with the artist's inherent drama of images, plasticity and expressiveness of the pictorial language. In the end. 1910s S. spent approx. three years on the Mediterranean coast. Here his painting underwent changes: the ascetic scale was replaced by a colorful palette, instead of specific motives, a free expression of feelings and fantastic appeared. vision of the surrounding reality. In the 1920s. S. painted portraits of women and children, created ser. depicting "boys from the choir" and "messengers from the hotel", in which he rejected external beauty in the name of penetration into the spiritual world of man. He continued to work in still life. And just as in portraits the ugliness and inferiority of the characters was overcome by the beauty of painting itself, in still lifes painting helped to depict the "dead nature" to see the beauty of the objective world. In the 1930s. for a long time he lived in Paris on the estate of his patrons near Chartres. A number of landscapes belong to this time - "Chartres Cathedral", views of Central France, in which nature is painted in mystical tones. In 1920-21 he participated in the exhibitions "47 from Parnassus", "Hundred from Parnassus", in 1923 - in gr. exhibition rus. artist "Hit". In 1927 - the first personal exhibition; later, most of the exhibitions took place in gal. USA and UK. In 1958-60 in New York, Manchester, London, the exhibition "Soutine and His Circle" was held.
