СТРАШУН Илья Давидович (Давыдович) (1892, Варшава – 1967, Москва), организатор здравоохранения, гигиенист, историк медицины. Акад. АМН СССР (1944). Правнук Ш.Страшуна. В 1911 поступил на мед. ф-т Моск. ун-та; в 1915, после окончания 4-го курса, направлен на фронт в качестве зауряд-врача; в 1919 окончил мед. ф-т Киевского ун-та. С 1919 – на фронтах Гражд. войны (с 1920 возглавлял санпросветотдел Кавк. фронта). С 1921 – в Москве. В 1920–30-х гг. занимал руководящие посты в Наркомздраве РСФСР – зав. отд. сан. просвещения, правительств. комиссар и науч. рук. сов. павильона на Междунар. гигиенич. выставке в Дрездене (1930), рук. Управления высш. мед. образования, один из организаторов и декан первого в стране сан.-гигиенич. ф-та в 1-м ММИ. Одноврем. работал на кафедре соц. гигиены 2-го МГУ (ныне 2-й ММИ), где большое внимание уделял изучению проблем алкоголизма. В 1930 читал спец. курс истории медицины в 1-м и 2-м ММИ. В 1935 основал и возглавил в 1-м ММИ первую в СССР кафедру истории медицины. Автор ст. «Медицина» в 1-м изд. «Большой мед. энциклопедии» (1936). В 1940 С. зав. кафедрой соц. гигиены в 1-м Ленингр. мед. ин-те, в период блокады дир. ин-та (1941–43). В 1944–47 дир. Ин-та орг-ции здравоохранения и истории медицины, в к-ром работал до 1949, и одноврем. зав. кафедрой истории медицины 1-го ММИ, возглавил созд. им Всес. науч. об-во историков медицины (1946). В связи с начатой в кон. 1940-х гг. т. н. борьбой с космополитизмом С. был лишен возможности работать до кон. 1951. Затем занимался науч. и обществ. работой в рамках АМН.
