В дальнейшем там же поставил спектакли: «Овод» по Э.Войнич (1939), «Друзья из Питсбурга» по М.Твену (1940), «Испанцы» М.Ю.Лермонтова (1941), «Дорогие мои мальчишки» Л.А.Кассиля (авт. инсценировка, 1947). Автор муз. и текстов песен к большинству спектаклей. С 1941 одноврем. работал в проф. т-рах, в т. ч. в Моск. т-ре им. Лен. комсомола, поставил более 20 спектаклей, среди к-рых «Женитьба» Н.В.Гоголя (1949), «До свидания, мальчики» по Б.И.Балтеру (1963), «Синяя тетрадь» по Э.Г.Казакевичу (1964), «Страх и отчаяние в Третьей империи» Б.Брехта (совм. с Л.К.Дуровым, 1968), «Месяц в деревне» И.С.Тургенева (1969), «Лисички» Л.Хелман (1973).
