С 1924 – во Франции. В 1927 окончил Ин-т электротехники и прикл. механики ун-та в Нанси. В 1927–30, 1934–35 технолог, конструктор, консультант на пром. пр-тиях Парижа. Одноврем. в 1928–30 – в докторантуре Сорбонны, работал над дисс. «Проблематика космонавтики». В 1930 начал переписываться с К.Э.Циолковским. В 1932–33 – в Польше, работал над иссл. «Введение в космонавтику». В 1934 представил свои работы и выступил с докладами во Франц. АН и Франц. астр. об-ве. С 1935 – в СССР. В 1935–37 – в Реактивном НИИ, завершил «Введение в космонавтику» (М., 1937; 2-е изд. – М., 1974; кн. экспонировалась в павильоне СССР на Всемирн. выставке 1938–39 в Нью-Йорке). В 1937–38 консультант ЦНИИ маш-ния и металлообработки. С 1938 публиковался во мн. периодич. изд. СССР. В 1939 обратился с письмом в ЦК ВКП(б) о необходимости разработки проблем межпланетных сообщений. В 1941–44 преп. Металлургич. техникума в Серове Свердловской обл. В 1951–54 – в проектно-конструкторском бюро. В 1953–59 референт в Ин-те науч. информации АН СССР. Осн. науч. работы посв. проблемам ракетных и космич. полетов: расчету и конструированию летательных аппаратов, расчету траекторий, устойчивости и управлению движением, баллистике и т. д. В 1932 предложил проект робота с механич. конечностями («андроид»), к-рый завершил в 1937. Засл. деятель науки и техники РСФСР (1965). Междунар. пр. по астронавтике: им.
