ШКОЛЬНИК Иосиф Соломонович (1883, Балта Подольской губ. – 1926, Ленинград), живописец, художник театра. Проф. (1919). Окончил Одесское худож. уч-ще (1905), продолжил образование в Высш. уч-ще при Петерб. АХ. С 1908 чл. гр. «Треугольник» Н.И.Кульбина. В 1910 секр. об-ва авангардистов «Союз молодежи», ред. и автор ряда его изд., участник всех выставок чл. «Союза» (1910–14) и др. моск. и петерб. выставок (представлял гл. обр. натюрморты). Одна из самых изв. работ Ш. – оформление (совм. с П.Н.Филоновым и О.В.Розановой) пост. трагедии «Владимир Маяковский» в «Первом в мире т-ре футуристов» (1913, Петербург). В 1917 участвовал в создании Союза деятелей иск-в в Петрограде. В 1918–20 возглавлял Коллегию изобр. иск-в Наркомпроса РСФСР, с 1920 дир. Ин-та декор. иск-ва. Преподавал в петрогр. "Union" (1910-14) and other Moscow. and petersburg. exhibitions (represented mainly still lifes). One of the most famous. works of Sh. - registration (jointly with PN Filonov and OV Rozanova) post. the tragedy "Vladimir Mayakovsky" in "The world's first three futurists" (1913, St. Petersburg).
