С.М.Кирова (1938) и др. В 1940–46 был дир. и худ. рук. Ленингр. БДТ, поставил спектакли: «Волки и овцы» А.Н.Островского (1941, 1943), «Парень из нашего города» К.М.Симонова (1941, 1944), «Новогодняя ночь» А.К.Гладкова (1946) и др. В 1949–53 гл. реж. Ростовского драм. т-ра, в 1960 – моск. т-ра им. Н.В.Гоголя, в 1961–1983 – моск. Т-ра-студии киноактера, поставил здесь «Учитель танцев» Лопе де Вега, «Дачники» Горького (все – 1949), «Человек, который смеется» по В.Гюго (1960), «Красный директор» Ю.М.Нагибина (1968), «Третье поколение» Н.И.Мирошниченко (1977), «Дубровины» Б.Ромашова (1983) и др.
