РОШАЛЬ Григорий Львович (1898, Новозыбков, Черниговской губ. – 1983, Москва), кинорежиссер. В 1921–23 учился в Гос. высш. реж. мастерских у В.Э.Мейерхольда. С 1921 одноврем. зав. секцией худ. воспитания в Москве, чл. Ученого совета Наркомпроса, дир. и худ. рук. мастерской Пед. т-ра, зав. кафедрой худ. воспитания Академии ком. воспитания им. Н.К.Крупской и 2-го МГУ, дир. Центр. дет. т-ра в Москве, с 1925 реж. к/ст Госкино, Белгоскино, Межрабпомфильм, ВУФКУ. С 1931 реж. к/ст «Мосфильм». В 1947–54 на «Ленфильме». Педагог ВГИКа в 1953–64. С 1957 пред. Всес. комиссии кинолюбителей Союза кинематографистов СССР. Дебютировал в 1927 ф. «Господа Скотинины» (по мотивам «Недоросля» Д.И.Фонвизина). В 1928 снял картину «Его превосходительство» (о покушении на виленского губернатора, совершенном Г.Леккертом. Затем последовала «Саламандра» (1928, в Германии). Среди ф. 1920–30-х гг. изв. «Человек из местечка» (1930), «Петербургская ночь» (1934, совм. с В.П.Строевой, Кубок на II Мкф в Венеции, 1934), «Зори Парижа» (1937), «Семья Оппенгейм» (1939) и др. Снял ряд ист.-биогр. ф., экранизировал трилогию А.Н.Толстого «Хождение по мукам»: «Сестры» (1957, Поч. диплом на XI Мкф в Локарно), «Восемнадцатый год» (1958), «Хмурое утро» (1959). В 1960–70-х гг. публиковался в журн. «Советиш геймланд». Нар. арт. СССР (1967). Стал, пр. (1950, 1951).Дочь Р. – Рошаль-Строева Марианна (1925, Москва), кинорежиссер. В 1948 окончила реж. ф-т ВГИКа.
