После окончания Гомельского пед. ин-та (1945) работал учителем в школах Слонима, Гомеля, Риги, Москвы. В 1958–71 зав. кафедрой физики в Калининградском техн. ин-те рыбной пром-сти и х-ва. С 1971 в АПН СССР, гл. науч. сотр. лаб. физ. образования НИИ содержания и методов обучения. Проблематика иссл. – роль и место релятивистских, квантовых и статистич. идей в преподавании физики в ср. и высш. школе. Обосновал возможность раннего введения основ теории относительности в уч. процесс. Разрабатывает вопросы связей физики с др. естественнонауч. предметами в ср. школе, в частности с астрономией, математикой, электротехникой.
