В 1941 репрессирован, до 1946 в лаб. 4-го спецотдела НКВД СССР. В 1946–63 в НИИ синтетич. каучука, с 1963 – в НИИ нефтехим. процессов в Ленинграде. В 1930–41 участвовал в созд. техн. способов гидроочистки и деструктивной гидрогенизации тяж. углеводородов. В 1949 разработал (совм. с Р.Ю.Удрисом, Б.Д.Кружаловым и П.Г.Сергеевым) технол. процесс получения ацетона и фенола из бензола и пропилена через кумол (кумольный метод). Создал методы синтеза – альфа-метилстирола щелочных окислов изопропилбензола (1953), изопрена из изобутилена и формальдегида (1964).
