Nr. 2 der Akademie der Wissenschaften der UdSSR, 1962–76 Leiter. lab., seit 1976 art. wissenschaftlich. sotr. Institut für Atomenergie. I. V. Kurchatov. Joint. mit I. I. Gurevich Forschung. metallische Reflexion ultrakalter Neutronen. (1953). Werke: Sovr. Modelle des Atomkerns. M., 1960.

No. 2 of the USSR Academy of Sciences, in 1962–76 head. lab., since 1976 Art. scientific. sotr. Institute of Atomic Energy. I.V. Kurchatov. Member Council for Nuclear Spectroscopy and Nuclear Theory of the USSR Academy of Sciences, member. Commission on constants at the Ministry of Medium Machine-Building of the USSR. scientific. interests - nuclear physics, theory of nuclear reactors. For the first time obtained the cross section for the formation of pairs of gamma quanta in the field of an electron, taking into account the Pauli principle, considered optical. model of a nucleus with a blurred edge for neutron cross sections, gave a correct explanation of the large cross sections for annihilation of antiprotons on nuclei and considered the boundaries of neutron stability of nuclei. Joint. with I.I. Gurevich research. metallic reflection of ultracold neutrons. He proved (with Yu.P. Elagin) that the antiproton-proton annihilation cross sections are significantly larger than the scattering cross sections. Completed work on radiation. protection, poisoning and slagging of reactors, the first calculations of reactors on enriched uranium. Author approx. 200 scientific. works and one monograph. Became. pr. (1953). Works: Sovr. models of the atomic nucleus. M., 1960.
