ЛИПЦИН Сол (Шлойме) (р. 1901, Сатанов Проскуровского у. Подольской губ.), лингвист. С 1910 – в США. Получил традиц. еврейское религ. и светское образование. Окончил Колумбийский ун-т. Занимался науч. и пед. деятельностью. В 1940-е гг. по инициативе Л. в Сити-колледже (Нью-Йорк) были введены курсы яз. идиш, впервые в истории высш. образования в США ставшего полноправным предметом. Л. – автор работ в «ИВО-блетер», издал также кн. произв. И.-Л.Переца на идише с параллельн. англ. текстом. Был пред. ред. совета Большого словаря идиша. С нач. 1970-х гг. – в Израиле. @ru
