С 1927 – центр еврейского нац. сельсовета Кодымского р-на Молд. АССР.В 1849 в К. проживало 2068 евреев, в 1897 – 2389 (49,7%), в 1923 – 1963, в 1931 – ок. 1800 евреев (90%).Еврейская община в К. существовала с 1780-х гг.; к ней была приписана община Кодымы. В 1900 среди евреев К. было 18 торговцев и 18 ремесленников, остальные занимались с. х-вом. С 1905 раввином К. был Арье-Лейб Браверман (1872–?). В 1910 действовала талмуд-тора. В 1914 в К. имелось 5 синагог. Евреям принадлежали обе аптеки, единств. склад аптечных товаров, 2 лесных склада, гостиница, мельница, 54 лавки (в т. ч. все 16 мануфактурных, все 11 бакалейных); среди евреев было 2 лесопромышленника.Еврейское население К. было уничтожено в период Катастрофы.- identifier

In 1849, 2,068 Jews lived in Kazakhstan, in 1897 - 2,389 (49.7%), in 1923 - 1963, and in 1931 - approx. 1,800 Jews (90%). The Jewish community in Kazakhstan has existed since the 1780s; the Kodymy community was assigned to it. In 1900, among the Jews of Kazakhstan there were 18 merchants and 18 artisans; x-vom.
