Преподавал рус. яз. в казенных евр. уч-щах, сотр. в газ. «Домашняя беседа», «День», «Голос»и др. (автор ст. по евр. вопросу и проблемам школьного образования). Под влиянием Я.Брафмана в 1865 опубл. в газ. «Виленский вестник» ряд ст. против евреев (под пс. С.Правдин), по инициативе попечителя Виленского уч. округа привлечен к работам т.н. «Виленской комиссии». Автор учебника рус. грамматики, выдержавшего неск. изд.Сын Г. – Александр (1864 – |), юрист, публицист, окончил юрид. ф-т Петерб. ун-та, служил в Мин-ве финансов (ученый секр., затем чл.
