ГУРЕВИЧ Лев Эммануилович (1904, Париж – 1990, Ленинград), физик-теоретик. Сын Э.Л.Гуревича. В 1930 окончил эл.-механич. ф-т Ленингр. политехн. ин-та (ЛПИ). Работал в ЛПИ, Ленингр. гос. ун-те, Пед. ин-те, Ин-те инж. ж.-д. транспорта, Горн. ин-те. С 1955 в Физико-техн. ин-те (ФТИ) (1956—71 – зав. сектором теории тв. тела; 1972–78 – ст. науч. сотр. с 1978 – проф.-консультант). Создал теорию ув$личения электронов фотонами (фотонный ветер); этим эффектом определяется ряд кинетич. эффектов в металлах и полупроводниках. Интенсивные эксперим. иссл. подтвердили его теорию. Изучал проблемы неустойчивости в тв. телах и открыл новые типы распространяющихся в них волн (термомагн. и др. волны). С сер. 40-х гг. большое внимание уделял проблемам астрофизики и космологии. Сомв. с А.И.Лебединским выполнил важные работы по теории формирования Солнечной системы. Позднее обобщил их применительно к конденсации звезд из газопылевой среды. Предсказал возможность повторяющихся термоядерных взрывов во внеш. слоях звезд. Участвовал в иссл. общих закономерностей эволюции звездных систем (в частности, процессов энерговыделения, протекающих в квазарах). Работы по нач. состоянию Вселенной (в развитие традиций, заложенных фундамент, работами А.А.Фридмана), в т.ч. по т. н. инфляционной космологии.
