ГОЛЬДЕНБЕРГ Иосиф Петрович (парт, па: Мешковский, Роман) (1873, Нижний Новгород – 1922, Москва), полит, деятель. Окончил Нижегородское реальное уч-ще, учился на физ.-матем. ф-те Сорбонны (Париж). В с.-д. движении с 1892. С 1903 вел парт.работу в Саратове и Петербурге. После 2-го съезда РСДРП (1903) – большевик. Участник рев-ции 1905–07. Дел. 2-й Общерос. конф. РСДРП в Териоках (1907), 5-го (Лондонского) съезда РСДРП (1907) и 7-го Междунар. конгр. 2-го Интернационала (Штутгарт). Неоднократно подвергался арестам. В 1908 выехал в Териоки (Финляндия). С 1910 -меньшевик. Чл. ЦК РСДРП. В 1910 арестован и сослан в Сибирь. Вернувшись в 1914 из ссылки, окончательно примкнул к меньшевикам. В годы 1-й мир. войны – оборонец, сторонник Г.В.Плеханова; вел острую полемику с большевиками. После Февр. рев-ции 1917 чл. Петрогр. Совета, работал в его Междунар. отделе. Летом 1917 в составе делегации ВЦИК 1-го созыва выехал за границу для подготовки Междунар. мирной конф. социалистов в Стокгольме.
