Делегат многих сионистских конгрессов, один из руководителей Гистадрут га-ционит в России. Был выборщиком в Гос. думу. Один из основателей компании «Кармель» по продаже вин в России. На его пожертвования земельным фондам были куплены первые земли в Э.-И. С 1918 – в Э.-И. Владел большими цитрусовыми плантациями. Купил земли на Гар га-Цофим в Иерусалиме и пожертвовал их Евр. университету. Основатель газеты «Га-Арец».
