ГЕРШЕНОВИЧ Рафаил Самуилович (1889, Ташкент – 1960, там же), педиатр. Род. в семье фельдшера. В 1914 окончил мед. ф-т Сорбонны (Париж), получив степень д-ра медицины. В 1914 возвратился в Туркестан и, сдав экзамены на врача, поступил работать в ж.-д. больницу в Самарканде. В 1918 назначен зав. здравотделом Туркестанского округа путей сообщения и ст. врачом госпиталя. В 1920–30-х гг. – ассистент, доц., с 1930 и до конца жизни – проф., зав. кафедрой дет. болезней Туркестанского (с 1923 – Среднеазиатского) ун-та (с 1930 – Ташкентского мед. ин-та). В 1939 защитил докт. дис. «Клиника дет. лейшманиоза в Ср. Азии».Г. – один из основоположников педиатрии в Ср. Азии, осн. педиатрич. школы. Изучил клинич. теч. лейшманиоза у детей, впервые описал безлихорадочную форму висцерального и кожного лейшманиоза, разработал методы лечения этого заболевания, в т. ч. с помощью препаратов сурьмы. Г. изучил проблемы дет. питания в норме и при патологии в условиях жаркого климата; пневмонии и кроветворения у детей, вопросы гемотрансфузии в клинике дет. болезней.Г. избирался ч.-к.
