В 1907 основал первый Музей ботаники в Э.-И., в 1912 – Музей флоры Библии и Талмуда в Ришон ле-Ционе. С 1936 в Евр. ун-те (Иерусалим), в к-ром с 1935 преподавал ботанику Библии и Талмуда. Иссл. флору Э.-И., ее использование, а также связанный с ней фольклор. На основе этих иссл., подкрепленных изучением названий на иврите, арамейском и арабском яз., дал толкование древних ивритских ботанич. терминов и идентифицировал растения, упомянутые в Библии и Талмуде. Ab 1936 in Heb. un-te (Jerusalem), in dem ab 1935 die Botanik der Bibel und des Talmud gelehrt wurde. Forschung Flora E.-I., seine Verwendung sowie verwandte Folklore. Auf der Grundlage dieser Studien, unterstützt durch das Studium von Namen auf Hebräisch, Aramäisch und Arabisch, gab er eine Interpretation der alten hebräischen Botaniker.
