ФАЙЕР Юрий Федорович (1890, Киев – 1971, Москва), дирижер, скрипач. В 1905 играл в орк. Киевского гор. т-ра. С 1906 учился в Моск. конс. в кл. И.В.Гржимали, занимался также у Г.Н.Дулова. С 1907 гастролировал с орк., к-рый состоял в осн. из музыкантов Большого т-ра, в Кисловодске, Екатеринодаре, Харькове, Севастополе, Ростове-на-Дону. С 1910 концертировал как солист, одноврем. работал 1-м концертмейстером Нем. гор. т-ра в Риге. С 1911 там же преподавал скрипич. игру в муз. уч-ще Имп. Рус. муз. об-ва и дебютировал как дирижер. С 1914 – в Москве, возобновил занятия у Дулова в конс., к-рую окончил в 1917. Одноврем. играл в орк. Большого т-ра. С 1919 ассистент гл. дирижера А.Ф.Арендса в Большом т-ре, с нач. 1920-х гг. – дирижер, в 1923–63 гл. дирижер балетных спектаклей. Работал с Р.М.Глиэром («Красный мак», «Медный всадник»), С.С.Прокофьевым («Ромео и Джульетта», «Золушка», «Сказ о каменном цветке»), А.И.Хачатуряном («Гаянэ», «Спартак»), Д.Л.Клебановым («Аистенок»), Б.В.Асафьевым («Пламя Парижа», «Бахчисарайский фонтан»), В.М.Юровским («Алые паруса»), А.А.Крейном («Лауренсия»). Уникальность таланта Ф.-дирижера – в сочетании проф. качеств музыканта с тонким знанием специфики сцены и техники классич. танца, к-рое создавало точность хореогр. интерпретации, гармонию музыки и танца.
