ЕЖОВ (наст. фам. Цедербаум) Сергей Осипович (1879, Одесса – 1939, Москва), полит. деятель. Р. в семье служащего Рус. об-ва пароходства и торговли, брат Л.О.Мартова. Учился в Петерб. ун-те, но вскоре был арестован. С 1896 – участвовал в с.-д. движении, в 1898 один из рук. петерб. «Союза борьбы за освобождение рабочего класса». С 1901 представитель «Искры» в Зап. крае. В 1902 арестован и сослан в Сибирь, в 1903 бежал. После 2-го съезда РСДРП (1903) – меньшевик. В 1905–07 сотрудничал в меньшевист. изданиях, в янв.—апр. 1906 – чл. объединен. ЦК РСДРП. В годы реакции «ликвидатор», работал в профсоюзах, органах рабочего страхования. С 1911 – один из рук. петерб. «Инициативной группы» меньшевиков, сотр. газ. «Луч». В 1912 арестован, в 1913 сослан в Чердынь Пермской губ. В 1915 вернулся в Петроград, с 1916 – в Москве. В годы 1-й мир. войны «центрист».После Февр. рев-ции 1917 чл. Исполкома Совета рабочих деп., один из рук. моск. меньшевиков. В нач. мая – дел. Всерос. конф. меньшевиков, избран чл. Организац. к-та (ОК), а затем и бюро ОК. В авг. -дел. Объединит, съезда РСДРП; избран чл. ЦК РСДРП от интернационалистского меньшинства съезда. Участник создания фракц. центра – Центр. бюро меньшевиков-интернационалистов. В кон. нояб. – нач. дек. – дел. чрезв. съезда РСДРП, вновь вошел в ЦК. С дек. – товарищ (зам.) пред. Всерос. Совета рабочей кооперации, ред. ж. «Голос рабочей кооперации».
