В 1970–77 балетмейстер Хореогр. уч-ща в Ленинграде, где осуществил пост.: «Жизни навстречу» на муз. Д.Б.Кабалевского, «Встречи» и «Души прекрасные порывы...» на муз. Р.К.Щедрина. Поставил бал. «Гаянэ» А.И.Хачатуряна (Ленингр. Малый т-р, 1972; в новой редакции – «Т-р Вельки» Лодзь, 1975), «Жар-птица» И.Ф.Стравинского (Т-р оп. и бал. им. С.М.Кирова, 1975). В 1977 создал Ленингр. анс. балета (Петерб. т-ра совр. балета) и стал его худож. рук. Первая программа (1977) анс., пост. Э. совм. с М.-Э.О.Мурдмаа и Д.Зейфертом, состояла из 5 танц. фрагментов и небольших бал.: «Только любовь» на муз. Щедрина, «Под покровом ночи» на муз. бал. Б.Бартока «Чудесный мандарин», «Двухголосие» на муз. амер. рок-анс. «Пинк Флойд», «Искушение» на муз. Р.Уэйкмана, «Прерванная песня» на муз. 1-й части Четвертой симф. И.Калниньша. Затем последовали: «Жар-птица» (1978), «Идиот» на муз. Шестой (Патетич.) симф. П.И.Чайковского (1980), программы «Автографы», в к-рую вошли 4 камерных бал. на муз. А.Вивальди, Л.ван Бетховена, Т.Альбиони и А.Г.Шнитке, «Безумный день...» по П.-О.Бомарше на муз. Дж.Россини (1982), хореогр. сцены «Страсти по Шекспиру» на муз. И.Брамса и ср.-век. лютневую муз. (1983). Осуществил пост. бал. «Подпоручик Ромашов» по мотивам пов. А.И.Куприна «Поединок», муз. В.А.Гаврилина (1985), «Пиноккио, или Приключения в Стране дураков» на муз. Ж.Оффенбаха в обработке Т.Когана (1990), «Убийцы» по ром. Э.Золя «Тереза Ракен» на муз. И.-С.Баха, Г.Малера, Шнитке (1991) и др. Э. – создатель телевиз. ф.-бал.: «Вариации на тему рококо», муз.
