ЭЛЬКОНИН Даниил Борисович (1904, Малая Перещепина Полтавской губ. – 1984, Москва), психолог. Д-р пед. наук (1962), проф. (1965), ч.-к. АПН РСФСР (1965), ч.-к. АПН СССР (1968). Брат В.Б.Эльконина. Ученик Л.С.Выготского. Окончил психоневрологич. отд-ние ЛГПИ им. А.И.Герцена (1927). Пед. деятельность начал в 1922 в Дергачевской колонии для малолетних правонарушителей (Полтавская губ.). Вел науч.-пед. работу в ЛГПИ (с 1928), Ленингр. коммунистич. пед. ин-те (с 1938). В 1941–45 – на фронте. В 1945–53 – в Воен.-пед. ин-те Сов. Армии (Москва), одноврем. с 1946 в Ин-те общей и пед. психологии АПН, где работал до 1984 (зав. лабораториями психологии мл. школьников, психологии подростков, диагностики психич. развития школьников). Развивая теоретич. идеи Выготского, разрабатывал широкий круг проблем дет. и пед. психологии. Э. разработал эффективный метод обучения детей чтению на основе звукового анализа слов, составил эксперим. буквари. Изучал психич. особенности шестилетних детей в связи с включением их в систему школьного обучения.
